| Bio: | The name Dedalus is taken from James Joyces' A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. In it, the protagonist, Stephen Dedalus, becomes aware of his mythic namesake and expresses a desire to fly free of all the social, political, and religious "nets" that so often hold people down. I want to do the same thing. For years, I have been greatly interested in the study of psychology, philosophy, literature, as well as comparative myth and religion. It has taken the better part of a decade to put together, what is for me anyway, a workable cosmology. It could have taken longer, but fortunately I'm a student of Joseph Campbell and Alan Watts, who helped clarify things greatly. One of my principal interests lies in orchestrating some degree of synthesis in things that are often considered oppositional. It seems to me that all the firm and fast dichotomies dividing male and female, the material and spiritual, and even high art and pop art are arbitrary at best, and psychologically detrimental at worst. Duality bites. As William James said, "Truth is an event." | |||||
